Beyond Brecht features the Brooklyn Playwrights Collective whose last production was described
by NYTheatre.com as a "smart, sharp, and compelling evening of theatre…" and the world
premiere of 10 new one-acts with a humorous/political twist, all inspired by Bertolt Brecht.
Interspersed between the one-acts will be songs, musical acts, and multi-media art.

This year's festival offers opportunities to catch an eclectic night of theatre by writers Ed Malin,
Hunter, Felipe Ossa, Maria Micheles, Chris Force, Marcy Wallabout, Jerry Polner, and Will Cordeiro

Some of this year's one-acts include: Ms. Un-America Pageant, by Maria Micheles, Fulana,
by Felipe Ossa, Sauté Your Face& Thank You for Applying, by Jerry Polner, Notes
Towards a Dialectic, by Les Hunter, The Resistable Rise of Fatlinda Paloka, by Marcy
Wallabout, Ice Pole, by Chris Force, Le Pithecanthrope, by Ed Malin, and Pedagogy, by Will Cordeiro

Performing artists include: Richard West, Lissa Moira, Peter Dizozza, Joe Bendik, Johnathan
Zalben, Jason Ellis, Margot Lee Sherman, Lauren O'Brien, and Amelia June.

The Brooklyn Playwrights Collective is a workshop and theatre group of emerging playwrights
from Brooklyn and Queens. They workshop bi-weekly in and around the Park Slope area. What
unites this diverse group is their urge to create an alternative to traditional “theater-centric”
events by incorporating other types of experimental performance and musical shows onto the
stage.
